Non Woven Fabric

Non woven fabric really is a fabric like stuff made with long fibers, attached with each other by mechanical, chemical, heat or solvent treatment. Non woven Fabric is neither woven nor knitted.  Non woven fabric is normally made by putting small fibers together in the mould of a sheet or web & then binding them either mechanically or chemically with an adhesive.
Non woven fabric is typically less strong due to not knit. In recent years, non woven have become an alternative to polyurethane foam. Nonwoven fabric is broadly defined as sheet or web structures bonded collectively by entangling fiber or filaments (and by perforating films) mechanically, thermally or chemically. It is flat, porous sheets that are manufactured directly from separate fibers or from molten plastic or plastic film. It is not manufactured by weaving or knitting and do not require converting the fibers to yarn. Typically, a certain percentage of recycled fabrics and oil-based materials are used in non woven fabric. The percentage of recycled fabrics varies based upon the strength of material needed for the specific use.
Nonwoven fabric is engineered fabrics that may be a limited life, single-use fabric or a very durable fabric. Non woven fabric provides specific functions such as absorbent, liquid repellent, resilience, stretch, softness, strength, flame retardant, washable, cushioning, filtering, bacterial barrier and sterility. These features are often combined to create cloth suitable for specific work, while achieving a good balance between product use-life and cost. It can mimic the appearance, texture and strength of a woven fabric and can be as bulky as the thickest padding. In blend with other materials it provides a spectrum of products with diverse properties, and is used alone or as components of apparel, home furnishings, health care, engineering, industrial and consumer goods. Non-woven fabric has its characteristics, which are as follows:

Characteristics of Non-Woven Fabrics
Non-woven fabric can perform the following specific functions:
It can be used as blotting paper.
It can be used asliquid repellent.
It can be used asresilient.
It can be used asstretchable.
It can be used asdelicate.
It can be used as flame retardant.
It can be used as cleanable.

Non woven fabric as very good strength which enhances its usability in various functions.
Non-woven materials are used in a number of applications including:
